A Non-Traditional Wedding Featuring (Quotes from) Shakespeare and Led Zeppelin

A Non-Traditional Wedding Featuring (Quotes from) Shakespeare and Led Zeppelin

"We met on basically the first day of college at UNC. Three years of friendship later, we realized there was something more between us. Our relationship was a whirlwind of dating quickly, moving to Colorado, getting a dog, engaged in Paris, and ultimately, married on Leap Day in one of our favorite cities in the world (Charleston, SC).

PHOTO 1: Our officiant was actually my uncle - and as I'm a big classic rock fan, he surprised me by opening the ceremony with Led Zeppelin lyrics. It was such a fun, lighthearted way to get into it.

PHOTO 2: Instead of scripture being read, I requested my favorite Shakespeare piece, Sonnet 116.

PHOTO 3: Reading the vows we wrote was my favorite part of the wedding. Instead of making vows, I told him all the things I could not promise him, which was a mix of very sincere feelings and some lighthearted teasing about my favorite football team.

PHOTO 4: We took out a lot of the traditional aspects of a wedding (including the cake-cutting) because we were just so excited to get to the dancing. Making sure we had a lot of time to party was such a great decision on our part." - Kelcey M.

Four Cultures, Fourteen Readings, One Incredible Wedding

We wanted to represent all 4 of our cultures: Lithuanian, French, Filipino, and African American. We did this through incorporating readings and readers in our ceremony from all of those cultures. We had 14 different people read quick excerpts in multiple languages. They just stood up where they were sitting and read, it felt very organic.
